Oblique Imagery

Covering Every Angle

The GeoInformation Group has partnered with Getmapping Plc to provide the MultiVision™ oblique imagery solution to the UK market. This oblique imagery solution complements the Cities Revealed geographic information and aerial imagery products.

Oblique aerial imagery offers a different view of the world from that gained from the more widely used vertical image. It provides increased context of features in an easily understood 3D perspective that is often more familiar to users. With four oblique images and a highly detailed, mosaiced vertical image the solution provides a seamless view of your city, town or area of interest.

One of the key features of the MultiVision solution is the ability to measure heights of any feature, or building relative to the ground, along with additional horizontal and area measurements. The MultiVision solution also provides the ability to extract a building in 3D complete with its facade. The software enables the creation of wire frame or building block models from the oblique images and the option to export these to other GIS and 3D modelling programmes such as Autodesk® 3ds max®. Using MultiVision, image thumbnails can be extracted from the obliques and rectified to fit the extracted building block, enabling the user to create a photorealistic 3D rendering of the built environment.

"Because the core functionality enables us to perform key measurements from the desktop this sophisticated imagery tool will ultimately save Surrey Heath Borough Council time and money." James Rutter, GIS Manager, Surrey Heath Borough Council.
