British Geological Survey (BGS)

The British Geological Survey (BGS) is the national centre for geological information, providing impartial advice and data to clients in the UK and overseas. Many BGS databases are now available under licence in digital format, ready for GIS applications, in addition to a range of interpreted data delivered through the GeoReports service. Digital information available includes geology maps, ground stability datasets, and minerals resource information, alongside a wide range of other datasets. BGS also designs detailed 3D geological models to meet customers' specifications which show geology in an easily understandable format. BGS aims to provide users of Geoscience data with relevant, comprehensive, and up-to-date information in a timely manner, to the highest professional standards.

Geological Survey of Northern Ireland (GSNI)

The Geological Survey of Northern Ireland GSNI), founded in 1947, is an office of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment for Northern Ireland (DETI). The Survey is responsible for providing a wide range of geological advice and information in support of planning, land use, environmental protection and natural resource assessment. The office is staffed by scientists from the British Geological Survey (BGS) under contract to the DETI.
